On this day when the world celebrates the 50th anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War, which took 16 years to come to an end, where no other event mobilized international public opinion in the 60s and 70s as much as the bloody and terrible Vietnam War, for the first time in history, battlefield atrocities were shown on prime-time television, mainly Vietnamese burned by napalm bombs, My Lai massacres by American soldiers, where more than one million Vietnamese and 55,000 American soldiers died in the conflict.
It was also in the 1970s that the repudiation of the war began mainly by young Americans at Universities such as Berkeley in California whose voices gave rise to marches and demonstrations, because the Youth of the Counterculture and the Hippies no longer accepted thousands of young Americans being returned in funeral bags, which later the whole world began to ask for Peace and Love, including the famous song sung by Gianni Morandi, It was a boy who, like me, loved the Beatles and the Rolling Stones.
These voices of repudiation of
the war reached the minds and hearts of the rulers, even the USA, having
admitted that they lost the War in Indochina, in the Government of Richard
Nixon, who owes a lot to the American Secretary of State of his time, Henry
Kissinger, who today still lives in the USA, aged 99, was the great American
negotiator, having signed the Peace Treaty in Paris on 1/27. and 1973, with the
Prime Minister of Vietnam, Le Duc Tho.
Unfortunately, the world did not
learn from this terrible war and today we are also experiencing the invasion of Russia against Ukraine, which will be one year on the 24.2.2023,
where 7 million Ukrainians are away from their homes and unfortunately nothing
has been done to put an end to it. also in this conflict that has already
claimed the lives of thousands of young people on both sides, and the tendency
is for continuity, because now NATO is sending state-of-the-art tanks so that
Ukrainians can defend themselves.
In the style of the
Vietnam War, we are now going through the Social Networks to summon
Governments, UN, Unesco, Fifa, Young People, University Students, Celebrities,
Music Artists, Film Artists from all over the world, to start a process for
Peace between Russia and Ukraine, and also for the Regeneration of Planet
Earth, because now we are 8 billion Human Beings on Planet Earth, which asks us
for help, because we spend 125% of its natural resources and yet it provides
all with environmental services such as water, energy, food , oxygen, energy
and habitat.
We can no longer be
spectators, but protagonists of the great change that the world needs and
Social Networks and Virtual Mobility are decisive in calling on all those who
truly want a better world to join us, after the 50 years since the end of the
World War Vietnam, we will still be able to count on some of the artists we
loved in the 60's and 70's, like the Beatles and the Rolling Stones and all the
other artists who sang and rocked the Young People who fought and protested
against the terrible war in South East Asia.
This is the world
today, with 8 billion earthlings squeezed and crowded on Spaceship Earth, where
they also suffer from its Degradation, because they use up 125% of their
natural resources, such as our Amazon Forest, and our Indigenous Brothers die
by the thousands from malnutrition , as now with the Yanomamis and the greed of
the Garimpeiros in their Lands, and they contaminate the rivers by the terrible
mercury used in the search for the Famous Gold, it is our great opportunity to
fight Climate Change and Global Warming, using the most powerful weapons that
we have, and that was the legacy of the Statesman Nelson Mandela, To Education, and the care
for our children and young people all over the world, as asked by the great
Player and King of Soccer Pelé, who recently passed to the other side of life.
Let's use the time to dare and make the changes that the world needs happen, only then do we have the right to remain here, taking care of the Regeneration of Planet Earth and its Biodiversity for this and Future Generations.
