Today the world is quieter.
The lenses that captured the pain and beauty of the Earth are resting.
We have lost Sebastião Salgado the man who did not photograph images,
but rather souls, forests, tears and dormant hope.
He descended into human hell:
in the gold mines of Serra Pelada,
on the trails of forgotten refugees,
in the eyes of threatened indigenous people.
And yet, he showed us that man can once again be part of nature, and not its executioner.
Salgado did not just reveal destruction.
He planted trees, he healed the soil, he restored life,
he transformed pain into a forest.
And now, faced with endless wars,
the fires that suffocate the Amazon,
children who grow up without seeing a clean river,
we ask ourselves:
where will the strength to carry on come from?
The answer lies in the legacy he left us.
In the image that denounces.
In the forest that is reborn.
In the art that educates.
In the courage that transforms.
That is why we, citizens of the world, educators, ecologists, children, indigenous peoples, scientists and dreamers, raise this letter to heaven and earth:
We will continue forward with our Platform for the Regeneration of Planet Earth, seeking great heroes and heroines who can join us, even with the absence of the great Photographer and Ecologist who lived among us.
We will move forward.
We will plant where there is ash.
We will photograph the invisible.
We will educate with love and urgency.
And we will make the planet our greatest commitment.
Not out of heroism. But out of duty.
Not only in memory of Sebastião Salgado,
but in the name of everything that can still flourish.
